If you're a working mother or own a business in the Dubai, you can sponsor your child even if your husband isn't living with you, isn't in the UAE, or in cases where you are divorced or single. In this post, we’ll give you a clear breakdown of the steps and documents required, including the NOC from your husband, to sponsor your child.
According to the UAE government, a mother can sponsor her children in certain special cases, as approved by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICP).

Here’s a simplified list of the documents you need to sponsor your child:
- Your Valid Residence Visa – Make sure your visa is active and valid.

- Salary Certificate – You’ll need a minimum salary of AED 3,500 with company accommodation or AED 4,000 in total. You should also have an employment visa.
- Partner/Investor Visa Documents – If you hold a partner/investor visa, provide your company’s trade license and Memorandum of Association (MOA).
- Child’s Birth Certificate – Your child’s birth certificate, properly attested.
- Passport Copies – Passport copies for both you (the sponsor) and your child.

NOC from Husband to Sponsor Child in UAE
The No Objection Certificate (NOC) is required for different situations depending on your marital status:
In Case of Married Women:
- If Husband is Outside UAE: The NOC must be attested by the UAE Embassy in the husband's country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs inside the UAE.
- If Husband is Inside UAE: The NOC needs to be attested by the Dubai Court or a Notary Public.
Note: A mother can sponsor her unmarried daughters regardless of their age.
In Case of Divorced Women:
- Court Verdict for Custody: You’ll need to submit the court’s custody verdict. This document must be attested by the UAE Embassy in your home country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE. It also needs to be translated into Arabic.
In Case of Single Mothers:
- Custody Verdict or Certificate from Local Authority: If you’re a single mother, you can submit a custody verdict from a court, a certificate from a local authority, or an affidavit from your consulate. If the document is from your home country, it must be attested by the UAE Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE. Again, it should be translated into Arabic.
In addition, you’ll need to pay a refundable security deposit of AED 2,500 for each child when applying for their visa.
